Talbottype
The talbottype is an early photographic process using paper and coated with silver iodide and was introduced by William Henry Fox Talbot. The photographs darkened as they were exposed to light in a camera obscura, the areas that came in contact with the light became dark in tone creating a negative image.
Colloidian wet plate process
Invented by Fedrick Scott Archer in the 1850's which by the end of the decade had almost completely replaced the daguerreotype. The photographic process created a glass negative and a detailed print. It was preferred at the time because of the quality and the ease of the process and thrived from the 1850s till around the 1880s.
